Hamas announced it is delaying the handover of a body it claims to have discovered in a tunnel in southern Gaza, accusing Israel of “violations.”
The terror group’s military wing warned that “any Zionist escalation will obstruct search and recovery operations,” delaying Israel’s retrieval of its fallen.
The statement follows yesterday’s incident in which Hamas staged the “discovery” of a hostage’s body that the IDF had already recovered months ago and buried in Israel.
Israel has accused Hamas of intentionally withholding bodies still in its possession, in breach of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire deal requiring their return.
Earlier today, Hamas operatives opened fire on Israeli troops in Rafah, prompting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to order immediate retaliatory strikes on the group’s positions.
