After thirteen years of existence and activities as a university center of Tipasa, the latter has just been elevated to the rank of university of Tipasa, by virtue of executive decree n°25-267 of October 7, 2025.
This new appointment was welcomed with great joy and pride within the Tipasa university family, where teachers and students did not skimp on words to express their jubilation following this new status. “We experienced this news as an achievement, especially since it is the result of a collective effort where everyone contributed,” comments Mohamed Hadidi, deputy director of the university center.
“Currently, we are in a transitional phase for the transition to university status,” he specifies, before adding: “With this change in status, many things will evolve, starting with the organization chart and the introduction of the system of faculties which will replace the current functioning (institutes). »
Thanks to the decree establishing the University of Tipasa, it will be made up of 6 faculties: the faculty of sciences, the faculty of natural and life sciences, the faculty of letters and languages, the faculty of law, the faculty of social and human sciences, and, finally, the faculty of economic, commercial and management sciences.
“The advantage of the faculty is that it has total autonomy in matters of management and budget,” explains the speaker. However, the same provision, notably in its article 7, states that “the staff of the Tipasa university center are transferred to the University of Tipasa, in accordance with the legislation and regulations in force” and “the rights and obligations of the staff concerned remain governed by the legal, statutory or contractual provisions in force, has the date of transfer”.
It should be noted that the Tipasa university center was created in 2012, with a current capacity which exceeds 19,000 students who follow their courses in 27 teaching sectors grouped in seven areas, while the number of specialties exceeds 70. “It was necessary to satisfy a number of criteria to access the rank of the university. Our establishment has fulfilled all the required conditions,” said the deputy director of the university center.
In addition to pedagogical teaching and specialties taught, the university has several doctoral offers, 10 research laboratories, 7 scientific journals, a subsidiary, an artificial intelligence house, an entrepreneurship development center, an incubator, as well as a recently installed medical annex and a higher normal school specializing in the training of primary education teachers, which is operational from this academic year.
