The presidents of the two houses of Parliament, Azouz Nasri and Brahim Boughali, paid a visit on Thursday to the 28th Algiers International Book Fair, paying tribute to the national memory and highlighting the cultural and intellectual wealth of Algeria, on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of November 1st.
Welcomed by the curator of the Salon, Mohamed Iguerb, the two officials began their journey with an update on the programming and the new features of this edition, which will continue until November 8, 2025 and brings together publishers, authors and national and foreign institutions.
The President of the Council of the Nation, Azouz Nasri, paid tribute to the sacrifices of the mujahideen and the martyrs, declaring that as the glorious date of November 1 approaches, they salute the sacrifices of the martyrs and the mujahideen for the liberation of the homeland and call on the younger generations to be inspired by their courage to preserve the national memory and continue building a victorious Algeria. He stressed that the Salon constitutes a showcase of the cultural wealth and diversity of Algerian intellectual production, accessible to all age groups.
For his part, the President of the National People’s Assembly (APN), Brahim Boughali, underlined the importance of the presence of Parliament in this major cultural event, affirming that this participation illustrates the openness of the institution to the world of knowledge and thought, contributes to strengthening parliamentary culture and brings Parliament closer to citizens. He also mentioned the digitization of legislative archives, a strategic project aimed at facilitating access to information and modernizing Parliament’s document management, in line with the digital transformation undertaken by the State.
The visit took the presidents of the two houses of Parliament to the pavilion of the People’s National Army (ANP), where they were informed of the latest publications of the Ministry of National Defense, notably the El Djeich magazine and the Stratégia magazine, as well as publications of the Higher Military School of Communication and the Central Museum of the Army.
They then went to the stand of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), where they were presented with publications promoting the role of the police in crime prevention and citizen awareness.

The two officials continued their journey at the pavilion of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, before going to the pavilion of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, guest of honor of this edition, where they were able to appreciate the richness of Mauritanian literature and thought through numerous publications on display. They also visited the pavilion of the High Commission for Amazighity, the Higher Council of the Arabic Language and the Algerian Academy of the Arabic Language, discovering the latest publications and initiatives to promote languages and national culture.
The delegation stopped at the unified parliamentary pavilion, bringing together the publications of the Council of the Nation and the National People’s Assembly. The journey continued at the pavilion of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, where the two presidents read publications tracing the history and struggle of the Sahrawi people. Finally, the visit ended at the stands of the Sultanate of Oman and Palestine.
