Mohamed Nazim Makhlouf and Rym Melissa Benamar Kerfah are the new bosses of Algerian tennis. The two members of the Hydra Tennis Club (TCH) won, this Saturday, the national championship, in singles and doubles, played at the FAT Federal Training Center in Ben Aknoun (Algiers).
In order to win his second national title, Makhlouf battled to get the best in two sets, over the young Kamyl Chebboub, from Chabab Riadhi Baladyate Bordj El Kiffan (CRBBKT).
In a marathon final, which lasted more than three hours, Makhlouf took the measure of his opponent very well by winning the first set with a score of 6 games to 1. The rest of the debates were going to be quite different, because the final completely changed its appearance during the second set.
Dominated at the start of the match, Chebboub drew on his resources, particularly mental, to show a better face, play a completely different type of tennis and push his opponent of the day to his limits. Despite this return to grace, experience prevailed. The unfortunate resident of CRBBKT did not manage to turn the tide and victory went to Makhlouf who thus succeeds Toufik Sahtali.
“It was the most difficult match for months since the start of the competition. I started the game well by winning the first set 6-1, but in the second set, Chebboub came back very strong. He even led 5-2, but I think the experience made the difference. I would like to congratulate him on his career, and I thank the Federation for the endowment, the excellent organization as well as my club for its support,” Makhlouf told APS after the match.
If the men’s final kept the guests at the Ben Aknoun FAT Federal Training Center in suspense, the women’s final did not experience the same suspense and intensity.
Unlike her teammate, Benamar Kerfah literally walked against Nada Douadi (CRBBKT) by going it alone in a match completed in two quick sets (6-1, 6-1). She thus offers herself her first coronation among the seniors and succeeds Amina Benaissa.
“I played very well from the first points and managed to manage all my matches since the start of the tournament. The competition took place in excellent conditions. I will continue to work for the next deadlines,” confided the new Algerian champion.
After shining in singles, Makhlouf and Benamar Kerfah did it again in the doubles finals. Associated with his singles opponent, Makhlouf and Chebboub outclassed the pair Nacer Ghouli / Slimane Kichou (CRBBKT) in two sets (6-2, 6-2).
As for the women’s doubles final, it saw the victory of the duo Rym Melissa Benamar Kerfah (TCH)-Kawter Abidat (COST2000 – Oran) dominated, in two sets (6-1, 6-2), the tandem Kawthar Bendimered (CTZ – Tlemcen) and Nada Douadi (CRBBKT).
