La Banque mondiale salue l’expérience algérienne – Le Jeune Indépendant


The World Bank has expressed its interest in the Algerian experience and the efforts undertaken by the country in favor of the energy transition project. During a meeting with the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, the financial institution welcomed Algeria’s progress in the development of renewable and clean energies, while reaffirming its desire to deepen the partnership with Algiers, through new cooperation mechanisms.

This was indicated in a press release from the Ministry of Energy, specifying that on the sidelines of this meeting, Mourad Adjal met representatives of several countries, including ministers and vice-ministers of Energy. The discussions revolved around strengthening cooperation between Algeria and the World Bank, as well as expanding international partnerships, particularly in the field of clean energy production and green hydrogen, it is added in the same text.

In his speech, Mr. Adjal insisted on the importance of continuing investments in renewable energies. In this sense, he mentioned the national energy strategy for 2035, which provides for the implementation of a vast program aimed at producing 3,200 megawatts of photovoltaic solar energy, the launch of which is planned before the end of 2026.

During this meeting, which was also attended by several senior executives from the ministry as well as a representative of the Ministry of Finance, the Minister of Energy also highlighted the major projects that the sector intends to carry out to strengthen its contribution to the national economy. He notably cited green hydrogen, solar energy and other forms of clean energy, which are at the heart of the country’s energy priorities. He reaffirmed Algeria’s desire to consolidate its partnership with the World Bank and partner countries, particularly in terms of financing projects with a regional dimension.

For its part, the World Bank delegation underlined, through various interventions, its attachment to cooperation with Algeria and its determination to work to make this collaboration more effective. Managers of the financial institution are committed to accelerating the implementation of joint projects in order to enable their completion as quickly as possible, according to the same source.
