A month after Genoa, it was in Turin that Tuttosport lifted the veil: Désiré Doué will be the Golden Boy 2025. In the shadow of the Grattacielo della Regione Piemonte, the future winner was confirmed before a ceremony which already promises to be memorable in December.
A month after the big media day organized in Genoa in the brand new Genoa training center, Tuttosport convened the press again this Tuesday, this time in Turin, at the Grattacielo della Regione Piemonte, to unveil the identity of the future winner of the Golden Boy 2025. In Genoa, the final list of the 25 talents still in the running was revealed, drawing the contours of the new golden generation of European football: Pau Cubarsí, Désiré Doué, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Warren Zaire-Emery, Dean Huijsen, Kenan Yildiz, Ethan Nwaneri, Geovany Quenda, Jorell Hato, Archie Gray, Eliesse Ben Seghir, Leny Yoro, Arda Güler, Victor Froholdt, Lucas Bergvall, Mamadou Sarr, Senny Mayulu, Estêvão, Franco Mastantuono, Nico O’Reilly, but also four wild cards came to add spice to the selection in the people of Jobe Bellingham, Francesco Pio Esposito, Aleksandar Stankovic, Giovanni Leoni and Rodrigo Mora.
An impressive shortlist, reflecting a generation as precocious as it is talented, but in which one name already clearly stood out. It was therefore in Turin, in the imposing tower of the Piedmont Region – the third tallest building in Italy – that the organizer officially lifted the suspense. This meeting had a clear objective: to explain the outlines of the gala planned for December, detailing its format, its guests and the course of the evening… but above all to announce the 2025 winner, the one around whom the entire ceremony will be built. A rare announcement since Tuttosport is now playing the card of long-term staging, which confirms a strong trend: the Golden Boy has become not only a trophy, but a real continental media event. And at the end of this presentation in Turin, a name stood out, without trembling, without dispute, as the absolute evidence of this edition.
Unsurprisingly, Désiré Doué will be the new Golden Boy 2025. The French international, who arrived at PSG in July 2024, shook up the hierarchy in his first half-season in Paris before flying through the 2024-2025 financial year. An indisputable starter, decisive in major events such as the final against Inter Milan and symbol of an ambitious technical project focused on youth, Doué participated in a historic year punctuated by a monumental quintuple: Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Champions Trophy, Champions League and European Super Cup. Add to that his importance in the game, his ability to make a difference with the ball, his tactical intelligence and his instant adaptation in a squad originally barred by competition from Ousmane Dembélé, Gonçalo Ramos, Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. All the lights were green.
First in the ranking among eligible players, natural leader of the Golden Boy Index after the regulatory ineligibility of Lamine Yamal, Désiré Doué will add his name to the list with the aura of a player whose trajectory already seems set towards the summits. We now have to wait until Monday December 15, when the official ceremony will take place in Turin, in front of the cameras and the major decision-makers of European football. Désiré Doué will be celebrated there as the new king of this generation, joining a prestigious aristocracy, from Lionel Messi to Kylian Mbappé via Erling Haaland and Lamine Yamal. An evening during which the Parisian striker will symbolically enter “the big leagues”, and which is already shaping up to be one of the highlights of the end of the football year. Paris, France and football Europe will undoubtedly remember this date, the one where Désiré Doué, bursting with maturity and talent, will have officially changed dimension.
