Two agreements between the National Chamber of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Onab and Angem
They are part of the dynamic of supporting the development of the fishing and aquaculture sector.
The National Chamber of Fisheries and Aquaculture, the National Livestock Feed Office (Onab) and the National Micro-Credit Management Agency (Angem) signed two agreements the day before yesterday, Friday, in Oran. It was on the sidelines of the 10th edition of the “SIPA 2025” International Fisheries and Aquaculture Exhibition.
“These two conventions are part of the dynamic aimed at supporting the development of the fishing and aquaculture sector and promoting the integration of young people into this promising sector,” indicated the director general of the National Chamber of Fishing and Aquaculture.
The first convention was initialed by the director general of the National Chamber of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Nabil Aouich and the deputy director of Onab, Houssameddine Hamma.
“The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of marketing aquaculture products, particularly freshwater products such as red tilapia, by integrating them into the national network of Onab sales points,” said Houssameddine Hamma.
This approach, for his part, indicated Nabil Aouich, is part of overcoming the difficulties encountered by producers in the field of marketing certain varieties, like red tilapia, through the establishment of regular distribution channels contributing to the stability of the market.
The second agreement, which focuses on supporting young project leaders in the field of the blue economy, through the training and financing of micro-enterprises, was signed between the Director General of the National Chamber of Fishing and Aquaculture and the Director General of the National Microcredit Management Agency, Souad Bendjemil.
“The support includes training in aquaculture and management, as well as support for projects whose funding does not exceed 1 million DA,” said the general director of Angem.
At the end of last August, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries gave new directions to the Directors of wilayas in his sector so that they give new impetus to marine aquaculture and provide all the facilities to operators in the sector, interested in investing in this niche to enable them to create bluefin tuna breeding and fattening farms. It was during a meeting with the Directors of Fisheries and Aquaculture from the different wilayas of the country. “Red tilapia will soon be included in the list of widely consumed products supported by the State.”
Thanks to the incentive measures taken by public authorities to support producers and develop aquaculture integrated into agriculture, marine and continental aquaculture is experiencing significant growth. Rabah M.
