The 2025/2026 school year was judged successful and stable by the National Federation of Parents’ Associations (FNAPE), which highlights the positive impacts of the reforms introduced by the Ministry of National Education. According to the federation, this start of the school year also reflects the coordinated mobilization of all stakeholders in the education sector across the country, while students have already started their homework period, illustrating a dynamic and promising start to the school year.
Meeting on November 5 in Algiers under the presidency of Djamila Khiar, the members of the National Council welcomed the special attention given by the high authorities to the education sector. They insisted on the importance of close coordination between the ministry, local authorities and social partners to guarantee optimal functioning of educational establishments. The FNAPE particularly noted the reduction in class overload, made possible thanks to the opening of more than 400 new primary, middle and high school establishments. A measure which was welcomed with satisfaction by parents and teachers.
The Federation highlighted reforms targeting the primary cycle, considered a national priority. These measures include adjusting school programs to better meet the needs of students and reducing the number of hours, in order to reduce fatigue and psychological pressure. According to FNAPE, these initiatives contribute to improving educational performance and promoting student well-being. At the same time, the integration of more than 12,000 physical education and sports teachers makes it possible to generalize PE as well as to promote health and physical fitness from an early age.
FNAPE also welcomed the ministry’s efforts to digitize the education sector. The introduction of digital services and applications now facilitates administrative procedures for parents and schools, helping to reduce administrative burden. “The National Council welcomes and appreciates the major role played by the ministry in expanding the use of modern technologies, contributing to simplifying procedures and reducing the administrative burdens weighing on families,” specifies the federation. These initiatives also made it possible to guarantee better organization of school infrastructure, including catering and transport, thus ensuring a smooth and well-prepared return to school.
The FNAPE reaffirmed its role as a committed social partner, renewing its support for all initiatives and reforms aimed at improving the quality of education and schooling conditions. “Our objective is to contribute to building a modern Algerian school, accessible and adapted to current challenges,” concludes the Federation, emphasizing the importance of a permanent dialogue between parents, teachers and educational authorities.
