The early detection campaign for prostate cancer attracted significant attendance

Constantine

A notable influx of citizens was recorded, the day before yesterday, Sunday, during the launch of the awareness campaign for early detection of prostate cancer, at the hospital establishment specializing in urology, nephrology and kidney transplantation in the Daksi Abdessalem city, in Constantine, as part of the national initiative “Blue November 2025”. On this occasion, Dr. Mehdi Mostefa Saker, university hospital assistant professor and Secretary General of the Club of Urological Surgeons “CIRTA”, affirmed that the attendance on the first day of this health event exceeded all expectations, with more than a hundred people welcomed before noon, marking a notable increase compared to previous campaigns, which reflects the growing awareness among men of the importance of early detection, particularly for the targeted age group (50 to 75 years). The same speaker stressed that the examinations are accessible without prior appointment, including the clinical examination as well as the blood analysis known by the acronym PSA, accompanied by medical consultations, with rigorous follow-up in the event of suspicion, under the supervision of the organizer of this event, Professor Riyad Sayoud, head of the urological surgery department within the same hospital establishment and president of the Club of Urological Surgeons “CIRTA”. In this context, Professor Sayoud clarified that the screening activity is not limited to the period of the campaign, but continues throughout the year within the service, emphasizing that “Blue November” constitutes an opportunity to strengthen efforts, organize open days in order to welcome the greatest possible number of citizens and encourage voluntary screening, while ensuring the availability of various therapeutic modalities, including active surveillance, surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, adapted to the stages of the disease and to the nature of each case. He added that the success of the campaign is based on the integral organization of the medical and paramedical team, including specialist doctors, interns, social workers and all support and administrative staff, guaranteeing the smooth running of examinations with efficiency and comfort, insisting that early detection allows appropriate treatments to be administered and significantly increases the chances of recovery.
