Two masked gunmen rushed a parked car in broad daylight in Rahat and opened fire at point-blank range, leaving a local man in his 30s gravely wounded. Medics are fighting to save his life. Security footage shows the shooters striking seconds after the victim got into the vehicle. 

United Hatzalah responders provided lifesaving care and evacuated the victim to Soroka Medical Center; his condition was described as serious. The attack fits a grim pattern of daytime shootings plaguing the city in recent weeks. 

Rahat has seen repeated gun violence tied to criminal feuds and the easy flow of illegal weapons in the Negev. Police raids in recent months have uncovered rifles, improvised “Carlo” guns, and hundreds of rounds—evidence of how saturated the area is with illicit arms. 

No arrests were announced at the time of writing. Investigators are reviewing footage from the scene and pursuing leads while residents demand a stronger, sustained crackdown on armed gangs operating in the city.
