A Turkish C-130 military cargo plane crashed Tuesday near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border killing all 20 crew members, the remaining victim was found, President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
The Turkish head of state spoke on Wednesday at a meeting of provincial leaders of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in the capital Ankara.
He notably indicated that the plane’s black box had been found and that the investigation had begun.
“The ongoing searches at the crash site are being closely monitored, and all necessary investigations will be carried out carefully in order to clarify all aspects of the incident,” he assured.
The president also indicated that the Turkish Defense Ministry and the Presidential Communications Directorate will continue to regularly inform the public about the plane crash.
He urged the nation to be wary of false information about the crash and not reward those “who stoop to practicing unfair politics.”
