Government Meeting

The Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, chaired, yesterday Wednesday at the headquarters of the Government Palace in Algiers, a meeting of the Government devoted to the examinations of the preliminary draft law on the highway code, in the light of the instructions given by the President of the Republic during the meeting of the Council of Ministers, held on November 2, a Government press release reported yesterday. This version of the draft consolidated text, explains the same source, is part of the strengthening of measures to combat the phenomenon of road accidents, in particular through drastic and rigorous measures and a toughening of criminal sanctions incurred by offending drivers, with the aim of reducing the number of accidents recorded each year. The Government also examined a draft Executive Decree approving the renewal of the license for the establishment and operation of an electronic communications network open to the public and the provision of related services, awarded to the company ”Algérie Télécom SPA”, we read in the said press release. The Government has also begun examining a draft Executive Decree establishing the conditions and modalities for carrying out the activity of audiovisual production and filming of audiovisual works. This text, which is part of the implementation of the provisions of Law No. 23-20 of 02/12/2023 relating to audiovisual activity, constitutes an important step in the completion of the regulatory system allowing the effective operationalization of the new system to govern the exercise in audiovisual activity. Finally, the Government heard a communication on the crucial role of accreditation, certification and approval processes in the valorization of research and innovation products, and their contribution to strengthening the economic role of Universities in the development of the country, concludes the same source.
