Algerian Badminton Federation: Salim Mazri elected new president

Salim Mazri was elected head of the Algerian Badminton Federation (FABa), for the remainder of the 2025-2028 Olympic mandate, during the elective general assembly (AGE), held at the Sports Elite Preparation Center in Souidania (Algiers).
Member of the executive office, Mazri was elected by obtaining 17 votes from the members present at the AG with the right to vote (10 clubs, 8 members of the former federal office and nine leagues), while his competitor, Smaïl Gaci, obtained 13 votes.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks and my deep appreciation for the trust you have shown in me by electing me president of the FABa. It is a duty which obliges me to devote all my efforts and all my sincerity to the development of this sport in our dear country,” Mazri declared to the members of the AG following his election at the head of the FABa.
The program of the new FAba president is based on “teamwork, broadening participation and developing the technical and professional performances of our players to enable them to reach continental and international podiums.”
“Our objective is to promote Algerian badminton on all stages and make it a true national sport. I am committed to doing everything possible, in collaboration with the new members of the executive committee and all our partners, for the implementation of this program,” he said.
Elected on December 21, 2024 for the 2025-2028 Olympic mandate, outgoing president Khier Barkat resigned.
