Eight elements supporting terrorist groups arrested

As part of the fight against terrorism, the forces of the People’s National Army (ANP) arrested eight (08) elements supporting armed groups in different regions of the country, said a press release from the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).
According to the same press release, a dangerous terrorist surrendered to the military authorities of Bordj Badji Mokhtar. These operations were carried out during the period from November 12 to 18, an operational report from the ANP indicated yesterday Wednesday. The MDN press release specified, I quote: “In the dynamic of sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism and against multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of the ANP executed, during the period from November 12 to 18, 2025, several operations resulting in quality results which reflect the high professionalism, vigilance and permanent availability of our Armed Forces throughout the national territory,” specifies the same source. The statement from the Ministry of National Defense added:
“As part of the fight against terrorism and thanks to the efforts of the ANP units, the terrorist named Tibari Hafez alias “Guaassaoui” surrendered to the military authorities of Bordj Badji Mokhtar in the 6th Military Region, in his possession a Kalashnikov type submachine gun, a quantity of ammunition and other effects.” In the same context, “detachments of the ANP arrested 8 elements of support for terrorist groups, in different operations across the national territory,” adds the same source.
As we have already indicated in our previous editions, the fight against religious fundamentalism remains the main battle to be won because fundamentalism constitutes the main reservoir of terrorism. Furthermore and as part of the fight against organized crime and “in continuation of the efforts deployed to counter the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, combined detachments of the ANP intercepted, in coordination with the various security services, during operations carried out across the Military Regions, 27 drug traffickers and foiled attempts to introduce a quintal and 45 kilograms of processed kif coming from the borders with the Morocco, while 1.4 kilograms of cocaine and 967,504 psychotropic tablets were seized. In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guezzam, Illizi and Djanet, “ANP detachments arrested 186 individuals and seized 27 vehicles, 296 generators, 164 hammers.
pickers, as well as quantities of mixture of raw gold and stones and equipment used in illicit gold panning operations,” the statement said, adding that “similarly, 14 other individuals were apprehended and FMPK type machine gun, 3 Kalashnikov type machine guns, 6 hunting rifles, 27,440 liters of fuel, as well as 10 tons of foodstuffs intended for smuggling and speculation were seized in separate operations.
Furthermore, “the Coast Guard foiled attempts at illegal emigration on the national coasts and rescued 152 individuals aboard artisanal boats, while 491 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory,” concludes the MDN press release.
