The 1st National “Mobile Film” Days
next year, the 1st edition of the “Mobile Film Days”, we learned on Wednesday from the organizers of the event.
Ms. Samia Merzougui, director of the “Ali-Souaïhi” cultural house, the organizing structure of the event in coordination with the Algerian Center for Cinematography, told APS that the first edition of this cultural event, which bears the slogan “Your phone… your story”, will be marked by the organization of a competition which will bring together 20 films made by young amateurs representing 12 wilayas of the country.
She added that this edition will also include “intensive practical workshops” devoted to image, directing, script writing, sound and editing, in addition to the programming of a scientific conference entitled “Short films on mobile, new challenges in digital cinematographic expression”, in coordination with the “Abbas-Laghrour” university and the laboratory of studies in human and social sciences of the same university.
According to the same official, the jury for this edition’s competition, which will be held simultaneously at the house of culture and at the Khenchela cinema library, is made up of artists Malika Belbey, Lydia Larini and Issam Taâchit, while the workshops will be supervised by professors Salim Hamdi, Feri Lounis, Moncef Safi, Kamel Makser and Hachemi Meliani.
Ms. Merzougui underlined that the increasingly marked enthusiasm of young talents and fans of films made using a smartphone, who have succeeded in establishing themselves, in recent years, on the scene, motivated the organization of this event intended to offer a space of expression to young people from different wilayas of the country in order to highlight their abilities, while allowing them to compete for the prizes of this first event of its kind and to benefit from workshops led by teachers specializing in the domain.
