A warm popular welcome was given, Thursday, to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, by the citizens of Constantine, as part of his working and inspection visit to this wilaya.
Thousands of citizens gathered along Abane-Ramdane Street, in downtown Constantine, to welcome the President of the Republic and express their gratitude for the vital and strategic development projects in various areas that he was to inaugurate on the occasion of this important visit. The President of the Republic greeted the citizens who came in large numbers from all the communes of the wilaya to welcome him to the city of knowledge and scholars.
The President had arrived earlier in the day in Constantine for a working and inspection visit during which he inaugurated and inspected several vital development projects. He paid tribute to the memory of the scholar Abdelhamid Ben Badis.
Before starting the program of his working and inspection visit to the wilaya, the President of the Republic also met the grandchildren of Sheikh Abdelhamid Ben Badis. This working and inspection visit was marked by the launch and inauguration of vital and strategic projects capable of accelerating the pace of development.
The President of the Republic began his visit by laying the first stone of a new University Hospital Center (CHU) with a capacity of 500 beds, which extends over a total area of 20 hectares and includes 24 hospital services covering several medical specialties, as well as an educational pavilion with a capacity of 1,000 places.
After listening to the explanations presented on the project, the President of the Republic underlined the need to move towards the creation of health centers offering cutting-edge medical services with a view to strengthening the national health system.
“Algeria has great potential and enjoys credibility, which has led many developed countries in the medical field to demonstrate their desire to cooperate with it,” said the President of the Republic, stressing the importance of “training doctors in cutting-edge specialties, graduates of Algerian universities.” In the same context, he insisted on the imperative of quickly taking care of critical cases requiring emergency medical intervention. Referring to the medical partnership between Algeria and other countries such as Germany, the President of the Republic indicated that Algeria “will obtain the necessary assistance to develop cutting-edge medical specialties.”
“The construction of large hospitals is an ordinary thing, but we especially need to train doctors in these cutting-edge specialties in our Universities, and this is what we aspire to,” maintained the President of the Republic, specifying that “the objective is to reach nearly 13,000 qualified specialist doctors, knowing that 13,000 general practitioners graduate each year in Algeria.” President Tebboune then proceeded to lay the first stone of the project to build a sports complex which includes a football field with a capacity of 30,000 seats and two training fields, as well as an accommodation infrastructure with a capacity of 60 rooms, integrated into the stadium, in addition to an Olympic swimming pool. The project also includes a sports hall with a capacity of 2,000 seats, three tennis courts, a parking lot with a capacity of 3,500 vehicles and an energy center. The President also inaugurated a new drug production complex specializing in sprays for respiratory diseases, ENT drugs, soft capsules and anti-cancer drugs. The complex covers an area of 27,000 m2 and offers more than 500 jobs. President Tebboune chaired, Thursday in Constantine, a meeting with civil society actors, during which he listened to their concerns and their proposals concerning supporting the State’s efforts in promoting development in the wilaya.
