🇺🇸🇻🇪Trump intends to speak personally with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, although the United States officially added him to the list of leaders of a terrorist organization the day before.

This was reported by Axios, citing senior White House officials.

According to sources, Trump’s decision indicates that direct strikes on Venezuela or a ground operation are not currently considered as an immediate scenario.

One of the publication’s interlocutors noted: “No one plans to come and shoot him or kidnap him — at least for now. I would never say never, but this is definitely not the plan right now.”

The date of a possible conversation between Trump and Maduro has not yet been determined; preparations are ongoing.

Trump’s interest in a direct conversation with Maduro coincided with the State Department’s decision to designate one of Venezuela’s drug cartels as a “foreign terrorist organization” — a status that gives Washington more grounds for possible actions around the country.
