Linked by a solid economic relationship, Algeria and Egypt are on the verge of entering a new stage of partnership in all areas. This desire was expressed by the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Al Sissi, who received this Tuesday the Algerian Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, on the eve of the holding of the 9e High Algerian-Egyptian Joint Commission.

At the head of a large delegation, Mr. Ghrieb was received at the Presidential Palace by the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sissi, to whom he conveyed the fraternal greetings of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his “desire to work together to strengthen fraternal ties between the two countries and deepen the bilateral partnership in all areas”, indicated the services of the Prime Ministry.

Welcoming the level of bilateral relations and the success of partnership projects between the two countries, Al Sissi underlined his country’s desire “to deploy all possible efforts to bring bilateral cooperation and economic exchanges up to the potential of the two nations.” He thus expressed his wish to see the work of the 9e High Joint Commission sanctioned success. In this sense, he insisted on the need to ensure the follow-up and concrete implementation of his conclusions in order to guarantee the achievement of the expected results, in the interest of the economies of the two countries.

For his part, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb welcomed “the deep historical ties that unite the two countries and the two brotherly peoples”, as well as the desire of their leaders to progress in strengthening bilateral cooperation. This, he noted, “by exploiting all the partnership opportunities offered by the economies of the two countries, according to an approach based on complementarity and integration within the framework of continental and Arab free trade to which they belong”.

The Prime Minister, accompanied by the Ministers of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Finance, Industry, Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Energy and Renewable Energy, Housing, as well as the Minister of Vocational Training and the Algerian Ambassador in Cairo, declared that the holding of this session is part of the implementation of the Presidents’ orientations of the two countries, formulated on the occasion of Mr. Tebboune’s visit to Egypt in October 2024.

The visit “also aims to promote cooperation in various areas, notably trade and investments between the two countries”, according to details from the Prime Ministry services, which add that “this session will see the signing of agreements and memorandums of understanding covering numerous sectors of cooperation, and will define a road map to continue joint efforts with a view to strengthening the partnership between the two brotherly countries”.

Receiving Mr. Ghrieb, Abdel Fattah Al Sissi expressed his deep gratitude to Abdelmadjid Tebboune, welcoming “the continued coordination between the two Presidents to strengthen cooperation between the two brotherly countries”, which, he added, “share a common history of struggle”, while expressing “the esteem and respect that Algeria enjoys in Egypt, among its leaders, its government and its people”. He also noted the pivotal role of Algeria and Egypt, “as two important pillars of maintaining the stability of the Arab world and North Africa,” affirming that they “will continue to work to strengthen coordination and consultation on various issues of common interest.”

Remember that the 8e session of the Algerian-Egyptian Joint High Commission, held in Algiers in 2022, was crowned by the signing of 12 bilateral agreements in several areas, such as industry, investment promotion, export development, support for small, medium and micro-enterprises as well as entrepreneurship.
