E-payment continues its expansion in Algeria, recording growth of more than 22% during the current year, said yesterday Brahim Boudjelida, senior executive in charge of digital marketing and payment at the Algerian National Bank (BNA).
In this context, Mr. Boudjelida indicated, during his speaker on Channel III of the National Radio, that new solutions are now offered to customers, in addition to online payment, in accordance with the guidelines of the public authorities aimed at supporting the national economy and supporting economic operators.
According to him, the structuring of the ecosystem and the coordination between the different players have made it possible to significantly improve customer loyalty. “In addition to the clearing system, the settlement of large amounts, the launch of the interbank payment system and the putting online of the DZ Mob Pay application, Algeria has made a real leap forward in this area,” explained the speaker.
Regarding the DZ Mob Pay application which was launched in January 2025, the same manager indicated that it is an interbank mobile payment service, allowing transfers from account to account and paying at merchants via a QR code. Making it known that the commercial action of the banks is underway, for the deployment and equipment of merchants with the mobile application, the senior executive responsible for digital marketing and payment at the BNA reassures that the application has already been tested, certified, approved by several specialists in the technological and security fields.
Developed by GIE Monétique, an economic interest group bringing together several Algerian banks, this service is designed to make electronic payment accessible, practical and secure. To use this service, simply go to your bank to find out the dedicated mobile application, download it from the Google Play Store or the App Store, then link your bank account to the application by following the steps indicated.
On the operational level, the BNA representative indicated that more than 7 million operations were carried out via electronic payment terminals (TPE), for a total amount of 60 billion dinars during the current year, an increase of 22% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Online payment is also continuing its momentum. No less than 18 million operations were recorded during the first ten months of 2025, for a total of 60 billion dinars.
“This development reflects growing customer confidence in electronic payment in Algeria,” he underlined.
Another revealing indicator, more than 21 million bank cards are now in circulation, including 17 million Edahabia cards issued by Algérie Poste and more than 77,000 TPEs are now made available to merchants across the country.
