Initial Report – Shooting Incident Near the Tunnels Checkpoint
A short time ago, during an operation by Border Police officers from the Jerusalem Envelope unit to prevent and stop the infiltration of illegal residents on Route 60 near the Tunnels Checkpoint, the force worked to detain several illegal residents found in the area.
During the operation, an off-duty IDF soldier traveling on a nearby public bus noticed what was happening and apparently believed it to be a security-related incident. The soldier got off the bus and opened fire toward the illegal residents. As a result of the shooting, one of them was injured at the scene.
No injuries were reported among our forces.
