A unified national platform.
The Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, Amel Abdellatif, revealed the preparation of a strategic bill aimed at strengthening the organization of supply and the regulation of the national market, particularly with the approach of the month of Ramadhan. This initiative notably provides for the creation of a unified national platform to track products and guarantee more transparency in distribution networks.
Heard by the Committee on Economic Affairs, Development, Industry, Trade and Planning of the National People’s Congress (APN), the minister stressed that the draft law in preparation will create a single national platform to track products, improve transparency and reduce speculation. At the same time, coordination was strengthened to ensure the availability of consumer products, support transport in the southern wilayas, organize local markets and integrate informal activities, according to a press release from the ministry made public late Tuesday.
Along the same lines, she detailed the reforms and measures taken to ensure market stability and protect the purchasing power of citizens. Ms. Abdellatif recalled that these measures are part of the directives of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and aim to consolidate the economic sovereignty of the country, support national production and strengthen the role of the State in market control, the same source added.
During this session, the minister explained that the sector has recently experienced a qualitative leap thanks to the development of digital systems allowing prices and products to be monitored in real time. A review of the legislative framework governing commercial activities, consumer protection, online commerce, invoicing and the organization of distribution networks is also underway.
In terms of control, the minister announced the establishment of a vast investment program including the creation of new anti-fraud laboratories, the equipping of existing structures with modern equipment, and the deployment of mobile laboratories to strengthen preventive control throughout the territory. These measures have already helped to reduce offenses linked to speculation and improve the quality of products offered to consumers, she said.
Ms. Abdellatif spoke of the national preparation program for the month of Ramadhan, designed to guarantee the availability of essential products, organize markets, intensify promotional sales and strengthen control. As a reminder, the minister also indicated that steps to import an “initial quantity of 29,545 tonnes” of meat have already been initiated. According to her, deliveries will be spread over a relatively long period, from January 15 to March 15, 2026, in order to meet the anticipated increase in demand before the month of Ramadhan.
Concerning the digital transition aspect, she indicated that an integrated information system for the management of supply and distribution networks is being developed, while the digital infrastructure and the role of the Competition Council are being strengthened.
The minister also affirmed that these commercial policies are part of a national strategic choice aimed at building a modern, transparent and digitalized market. She insisted on the role of cooperation between the sector, Parliament and economic operators to guarantee a stable, fair market that serves the citizen.
