
🇯🇵🏳️🌈🗳 — The Japanese Pro-Russia, Pro-LGBT and Anti-American left-wing populist party Reiwa Shinsengumi is holding a leadership election, and one of the candidates is a third-year high school student.
➡️ His name is Ikki Shinohara, an 18-year-old high school student.
In his second year he won the National High School Future Conference, a tournament in which high school students nationwide compete by submitting policy ideas, with the winner getting to present their idea to the Prime Minister’s Office.
📝 His proposal to lower the minimum candidacy age for national and local elections to 18 won the 2024 edition.
➡️ He has also engaged in political activism, submitting policy proposals to major parties in the National Diet and to the local legislature of his hometown of Tochigi.
