BREAKING: Terror operatives ambushed IDF forces in eastern Rafah this afternoon, leaving five soldiers wounded, one of them in serious condition.

Troops from the Golani Brigade’s reconnaissance unit came under attack after several terrorists surfaced from a tunnel network in an area Israel has been clearing, where many Hamas members are believed to remain underground.

One Golani recon soldier suffered severe injuries, while two other Golani troops and an NCO from the Gaza Division were moderately hurt. A fifth soldier sustained light wounds.

A preliminary IDF review says two terrorists who advanced toward the force were shot and killed. Moments later, a third assailant, initially unidentified, managed to plant an explosive device on an armored vehicle before escaping.

In retaliation, the IDF launched air and artillery strikes across the sector, targeting additional terror infrastructure and operatives.
