Hamas Rafah commander targeted in pinpoint IDF strike near Khan Younis
An IDF strike in western Khan Younis ignited a large fire at the impact site after targeting what the army describes as a senior Hamas terror commander in the Rafah Brigade, one of the group’s key frameworks in southern Gaza.
Palestinian footage from the area shows flames and heavy smoke billowing over buildings, consistent with a precision strike on a command target rather than random bombardment. Israeli officials have not yet released the commander’s name, but stress the attack was directed at Hamas’ operational leadership, not civilians.
Hamas, as usual, is trying to flip the narrative—accusing Israel of “escalation” and demanding that international mediators and the Arab states backing the ceasefire move to “restrain” Jerusalem. The same terror group using Rafah and Khan Younis as launchpads for attacks is now complaining when its senior operatives are hunted down.
