🇲🇭The Marshall Islands were the first in the world to introduce a basic unconditional income – all citizens began to receive 200 dollars every three months, reports The Guardian.

The money can be received into a bank account, by check, or in the form of cryptocurrency on the blockchain through a government-supported digital wallet.

“200 dollars per person per quarter, which is about 800 dollars a year, is not enough to quit work. But we consider it a good moral support for people,” says the country’s finance minister.

This measure is being taken as part of efforts to reduce the rising cost of living in the Marshall Islands. The average income of the country’s citizens is 800-1000 dollars per month.
