Iran’s Secret Syria–Iraq “Land Bridge” Exposed: Vehicle-Sized Tunnels Built to Smuggle Weapons to Hezbollah
Footage circulating from eastern Syria appears to show a sprawling underground tunnel network near the IRGC-linked Imam Ali base outside Abu Kamal, with passageways wide enough for vehicles to drive through. The clip is being shared as evidence of a hidden logistics route built to move weapons and personnel while staying out of aerial view.
The site sits on the Al-Bukamal corridor—Tehran’s critical land bridge through Iraq into Syria—used for funneling advanced materiel westward to Iran-backed militias, including Hezbollah. For years, analysts have flagged this area as a central node in Iran’s regional supply chain.
This isn’t coming out of nowhere: satellite assessments previously pointed to tunnel entrances and major excavation at the Imam Ali complex, with estimates suggesting widths consistent with storing or moving large weapons systems—and potentially bypassing the Abu Kamal crossing altogether.
