For the first time in modern history, there is a Syrian authority that recognizes Lebanon as an independent state. The new Syrian administration has confirmed its respect for our sovereignty and its commitment not to interfere in our internal affairs.
We are negotiating with Syria on all outstanding issues, and while the talks may take some time, we remain optimistic about reaching solutions.
