🇬🇷✝️ — Today, December 27, marks the completion of the Hagia Sophia, one of the most important buildings in world history.

▶️In the year 537, during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, the great church was officially opened in Constantinople, now known as Istanbul.

▶️It was originally built as a Christian cathedral and remained the largest church in the world for almost a thousand years, celebrated for its enormous dome and groundbreaking architecture.

▶️In 1453, after the Ottoman conquest of the city, Hagia Sophia was converted into a mosque, and minarets were added to its exterior.

▶️In 2020, it was reconverted into a mosque while remaining open to visitors.

▶️Across centuries, Hagia Sophia has stood as a powerful witness to religious, political, and cultural change.
