A 15-year-old schoolboy from Sumy region developed a prototype of a sapper robot.
15-year-old Yermak Rohovoy from Sumy oblast created a prototype of a universal military robot that will help the military in demining the territory. He worked on it almost a year and surprised the jury of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine with his multifunctional demining robot!
He said that the cost of such a robot might be about 7-8.000 hryvnias (155-177€). But for the prototype Yermak spend only 1.000 hryvnias (22€). “I used joysticks and other parts from old toys, I made a metal detector using electronic design, I asked builders for plastic, and printed plastic gears on a 3D printer.”
The practical and lightweight demining robot can detect mines and explosive devices underground, transport small loads, and even act as a kamikaze to destroy enemy equipment. Such a device can be controlled remotely, so the specialist who will operate it will not be injured in case of an explosion.
