Culture and innovation are strategic pillars of the African policy of Algeria, inscribed in a tradition of solidarity and unwavering support for the causes of the African continent. This was said this Saturday, this Saturday, Soraya Mouloudj, Minister of National Solidarity, Family and the condition of women, on the occasion of the kickoff of the week of cultural creativity, organized on the sidelines of the 4th edition of the intra-African trade fair (IATF 2025).
In her inaugural speech, Ms. Mouloudji said that the success of the 4e Edition of the IATF is “the fruit of a clairvoyant political vision of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune”, adding that this major demonstration, which brings together more than 140 delegations from the whole African continent, illustrates the growing place of Algeria as a point of convergence of African economic ambitions.
This event, devoted to African creative industries, is a space for expression and meeting between creators, economic actors and political decision -makers, devoted to creative industries which will have to be considered as levers of development and integration for the whole continent.
In her speech, the minister recalled that Algeria had already been at the heart of historical moments that have marked African cultural unity. She mentioned in particular the second Pan -African cultural festival, organized in 2009 in Algiers, which demonstrated “the richness and diversity of our cultures”, believing that this event allowed Africa to reaffirm its identity and its creative genius. “Today, we find ourselves, once again, to renew these links and strengthen cooperation bridges through a renewed cultural and economic approach,” she continued.
The minister added that Algeria has always defended the African causes, recalling that “for decades, Algeria has not spared any effort to support the continent’s struggles, preserve its strategic interests and strengthen its unity”. She said that this fidelity is not cyclical, but the natural extension of a fight started alongside liberation movements, ensuring that “this commitment today finds an extension in the promotion of culture and innovation, considered as essential foundations of a common future”.
Culture and economy: two levers for the same fate
Ms. Mouloudji said that there can be no economic prosperity without cultural boom, specifying that “economic development cannot be separated from cultural development”. She thus underlined the decisive role of creative industries in the fields of music, literature, cinema, visual arts, design or fashion in the construction of a modern economy, arguing that “the days of cultural creativity contribute to sustainable development. Applying for the development of creative industries as a base of continental prosperity, she argued that investing in creativity is to invest in the future.
She also pointed out that the African continent has invaluable creative capital. “Africa, which has amazed the world by its treasures and creations, is also capable of dazzling it by its economic model,” she noted, believing that imaginary and innovation must be placed at the heart of development strategies.
In addition, the Minister wanted to salute the role of the partners who accompany this process. The African Import-Export Bank (Afreximbank), the African Union and the continental African free trade area (ZLECAF) appear at the forefront of these essential supports. Their involvement makes it possible to give a solid institutional and economic dimension to African cooperation. For Ms. Mouloudji, the presence and support of these organizations guarantee that the initiatives launched find a sustainable extension and are part of a coherent continental logic.
Speaking directly to delegations, the Minister reiterated the availability of Algeria to offer her support, expertise and experience to all African partners. She welcomed each participant, recalling that Algeria wants to be “the second homeland” of all Africans. In his words appeared the spirit of openness and fraternity which has always characterized the Algerian reception. She expressed the wish that these working and exchange days are also a time of human meeting and the construction of lasting ties. Stressing that for several days, SAFEX will be the scene of meetings between entrepreneurs, investors, political decision -makers and cultural actors, it noted that exchanges will focus on commercial opportunities, but also on how to strengthen complementarities between African countries and to consolidate the basics of endogenous development.
In conclusion of her intervention, Ms. Mouloudji wanted this meeting to be “a new step in the construction of bridges based on dialogue, peace and creativity”, so that Africa remains “a lighthouse for future generations and a symbol of excellence and success”. By associating trade and creativity, Algiers gave the IATF a singular scope. That of embodying his vocation as African Carrefour, both witness to history and actor of the future, where culture, economics and solidarity intertwine. The capital has also changed into a dialogue space where entrepreneurs, decision -makers and creators intersect, all carried by the same ambition, that of building a united, innovative and turned Africa.
