The Arab and Islamic world is effervescence after the last bellicose outings of the Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu. Two major facts fueled tensions in the Middle East, placing the whole region in a critical situation and under the threat of new deadly conflicts.

First, the continuation of the war of extermination in Gaza and the renewal of Israeli plans aimed at reoccupy the territory militarily and to expel its inhabitants. The same threat affected the West Bank and the territories under the Palestinian Authority, with the projects to establish new colonies of settlement for the Jews. Then there was the sinister Zionist expansion project which threatens the entire region. A “messianic” project, fundamentalist and eradicator of “Grand Israel” that Netanyahu wants to execute by occupying entire regions in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and Iraq.

This double threat was on the agenda for the work of the extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (MAE) of the Member States of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC), which began yesterday at the Siege of the Organization in Djeddah, in Saudi Arabia.

Algeria is represented at this extraordinary meeting by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the national community abroad and African affairs, Ahmed Attaf.

Speaking during this extraordinary session, Mr. Attaf assured that the threats to the Palestinian cause in particular and in the region of the Middle East in general require that the international community adopts a new approach to anticipate and manage the dangers that result from it. He stressed that “the Israeli occupation no longer even bothered to hide its expansionist plans, its leaders openly boasting of reviving and implementing what is called the” Grand Israel “project”.

The minister added that the blur was lifted, the camouflage failed and the masks fell. There is no longer a place for the interpretation of what has been falsely called the “historical and spiritual mission of Zionism”.

The Minister continued by saying: “We are undoubtedly confronted with an Israeli impulse obsessed with the idea of ​​completely eliminating the Palestinian national project and demolishing the foundations of the two -state solution by making it disappear spirits, after continuing to cancel it on the ground. »»

He also added: “We are also undoubtedly confronted with an ardent Israeli desire to redraw the borders of the region and to disrupt the security and stability of the neighboring countries of Palestine and their territorial integrity. »»

The Minister said: “We are also undoubtedly confronted with an overwhelming Israeli tendency to impose his desires, his ambitions and even his illusions to the detriment of the will of the international community, the warnings of the United Nations and the resolutions of international legitimacy. »»

The Minister stressed that it is imperative to raise our collective position, in words and acts, at the level of these existential challenges on the one hand, and that of the legendary resistance of our brothers in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon, on the other hand. It is also necessary to keep united alongside the brothers, Egypt and Jordan, in the light of the threats that the Israeli expansionist project weighs on them.

Attaf said that “as much we want to contribute to the establishment of a global and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, as much we must block the road to plans aimed at handing the territory under the control of the occupation and to move its population. ». The Minister added: “As much as we want to contribute to the development of arrangements for the period following the aggression against the Gaza Strip, as much we must work to consolidate the status of this band as an integral part of the Palestinian State. »»

Ahmed Attaf said: “As much as we want to contribute to the response to the urgent priorities of the Palestinian people, as much we must strive to preserve the pillars of the two-state solution and the foundations of the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State with El-Quds as capital, in order to maintain the hope of a just, durable and final settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. »»

In conclusion, the Minister called on the international community to take the available deterrents seriously, in particular the necessary international sanctions, to put an end to the aggression, to impose respect for international legitimacy and to save the region that awaits it, namely unprecedented threats and dangers and in incalculable consequences.

It should be noted that the organization of Islamic cooperation is the second largest intergovernmental organization after the United Nations. It is an institution to which 57 countries adhere, spread over African, Asian and European continents.
