The Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Ali Aoun, instructed the CEO of the textile and leather industry group (Getex) to redouble efforts to regain the Group’s position and launch several textile factories which would contribute to the development of the national economy. Underlining, in passing, the imperative to intensify the efforts of the Getex group throughout the year, in order to be present at the level of the large slaughterhouses of the different wilayas.
This was, said Wednesday, a press release from the Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, during the visit he made to the textile and leather industry group (Getex), aimed at evaluating the skins and wool collection operation during Eid El Adha, where he listened to a presentation presented by the Group’s CEO and unit directors.
The minister, continued the same source, welcomed the efforts made by workers during the Eid El Adha festival, which resulted in a 10% increase in the collection rate of skins in good condition, compared to last year, according to the preliminary assessment, thanks to joint efforts across the national territory, in coordination with wilaya services. An operation which aims to promote this raw material which contributes to the promotion of the leather industry sector at the level of tanneries falling under the Textile and Leather Industry Group (Getex).
The Getex group, noted the same source, mobilized, for this purpose, more than 500 workers, in addition to coordination to ensure the transport and equipment necessary to carry out this operation. Noting that the minister, regarding the recovery of wool, affirmed that this operation called for the mobilization of all, given its major importance for the national economy. Encouraging the continuation of these efforts and emphasizing the importance of maintaining this system throughout the year and not only during the Eid holidays, the minister insisted on the development of the wool industry and the maximum recovery of skin losses and waste to develop the production of collagen, gelatin or glue.
The same day, Wednesday, the CEO of Getex, Toufik Berkani, reported the collection of 500,000 sheep skins. “The collection operation took place in better conditions compared to the previous year. Thanks to the financial, logistical and human resources put in place for this purpose, the results obtained so far are encouraging, recording “better performance” and growth ranging from “19 to 20% compared to the same reference year”. he indicated. Noting that of the quantity of skins collected, 29% are transformable and can be used for national production or export.
