Antisemitism Uproar: Jewish Film Festival Faces Backlash Over Juror’s Posts
The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival caused a furor when Israel’s consul general spotted one of the judges at the event wearing a keffiyeh. It turned out that Anwar Karim had a history of publicly and unapologetically publishing inflammatory, antisemitic posts and had participated in a college encampment protest. The consulate withdrew its sponsorship of the event, and the Jewish Federation of Atlanta warned the festival organization that it needed to mend its ways in order to continue to receive funding.
