The president of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI), Kamel Hamni, invited the Czech business community to invest in Algeria the day before yesterday in Algiers, highlighting the business climate which is “propitious” to the development of an economic partnership beneficial to both countries. Speaking on the occasion of the Algerian-Czech business forum, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Algiers, Jan Czerny, and the Vice-President of the Czech Chamber of Commerce, Radek Jakubsky, Mr. Hamni underlined the availability of the CACI to strengthen economic and commercial cooperation between companies in the two countries. And this, through the organization of business trips and meetings between Algerian businessmen and their Czech counterparts. Considering that this forum, held on the sidelines of the 55th edition of the Algiers international fair (FIA 2024), constituted a further step in the cooperation undertaken between the two chambers to develop bilateral trade deemed “well below existing potential “, he specified that national exports to the Czech Republic would not exceed $300,000 in 2023, compared to $130 million in imports from this Central European country.
In addition, Mr. Hamni insisted on the interest of developing direct investments in Algeria, highlighting the advantages and facilitations offered to foreign investors. He cited in particular access to land and the competitive cost of energy in addition to qualified human resources. For his part, the vice-president of the Czech Chamber of Commerce, Radek Jakubsky, noted the opportunities for Algeria to invest in his country which represents “a gateway to the European market”.
The Czech ambassador, for his part, mentioned the historical ties between the two countries by emphasizing the role of economic diplomacy which works to further develop this bilateral cooperation, in particular through continued participation in fairs which constitutes, according to him, the one of the concrete steps for the development of privileged relations with Algeria.
Present at this forum, the Secretary General of the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, Valdimir Mana, expressed his country’s wish to develop cooperation in strategic sectors such as energy, mining, agriculture, knowledge economy and agriculture.
“We must further strengthen bilateral trade and economic promotion by relying on numerous successful experiences of Czech companies on the Algerian market,” he affirmed, adding that his country considers Algeria as one of the partners most promising businesses in the Mediterranean.
During this forum, bilateral meetings between businessmen from the two countries were organized, in addition to the presentation of a presentation by the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) on the business climate in Algeria.
