Appel au Président Tebboune pour un 2ème mandat

Call to President Tebboune for a 2nd term

The Independents Group at the APN

The process leading to the presidential election on September 7 is ongoing. All national political activity is focused on this deadline. Until this Sunday, there were 31 candidates for candidacy to withdraw the individual signature subscription forms, according to the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE). This operation, for which more than 14,000 agents were mobilized, continues at the headquarters of the ANIE, at the Palais des Nations in Algiers, until July 18, 2024 at midnight. The submission of applications by candidates for candidacy is done at the 4,903 legalization points distributed throughout the national territory. The examination of the applications by the ANIE will continue until July 27, when the final list of candidates whose applications will be forwarded to the Constitutional Court for validation will be announced.

In this regard, the parliamentary group of independents in the National People’s Assembly (APN) called, the day before yesterday Sunday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to run for a second term to complete the process of building the new Algeria, welcoming the fulfillment of his 54 commitments made to the people. The parliamentary group expressed, in a statement, its “total support” for the President of the Republic, calling on him “on behalf of the independent elected representatives in the two chambers of Parliament and the People’s Assemblies of the wilaya and the communal assemblies” to run for a second term in order to “complete the process of building the new Algeria, the Algeria of democracy, social justice and strong institutions”. This call, adds the parliamentary group, comes in view of the “leadership capacities of the President of the Republic” and “his clear-sighted vision which has enabled the realization of many achievements in our country”.

It also stems from “our conviction that this is the right person to lead the country and that a second term will strengthen stability and development and contribute to achieving greater progress and prosperity for the people,” the statement continued. In addition, the independent elected officials said they were “fully prepared to contribute to the success of the presidential election scheduled for September 7,” calling on the people, all components combined, to “massive participation in this important event to consolidate the political and institutional stability of our country.” It is known that the Secretary General of the FLN, Abdelkrim Benmbarek, has already called, on behalf of the members of the CC and all the party’s activists, on President Tebboune to run in the September 7 presidential election.
