Au moins 18 morts et 13 blessés – Le Jeune Indépendant

A passenger transport bus fell from a bridge to the El Harrach wadi in the east suburbs this Friday August 15 killing 18 people and 13 injured, two of which are in serious condition, said civil protection.

“Our services intervened at 5:45 pm following a passenger transport bus accident which died to fall from a bridge in wadi El Harrach,” said the same source without specifying the causes of the drama.
To save the passengers who have fallen into wadi, civil protection mobilized 25 ambulances, 16 divers and four pneumatic boats.

Videos and photos on social networks show the covered remains of the victims and a strong mobilization of civil protection on one of the banks of the wadi.

According to witnesses, the bus that made the connection between Reghaia and Algiers skidded in the Kharouba bridge. Citizens were the first to try to save travelers by diving into this viscous and foul -smelling wadi.

The rescuers managed to extract the bus from the water. An investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the drama.
