A significant improvement in school transport is observed this year in Béjaïa. This system has been strengthened thanks to the subsidies granted by the wilaya to the municipalities which do not have sufficient means to ensure school collection, knowing that the number of students remains very large. The latter signed contracts with private passenger carriers to fill the lack of bus from the first day of the start of the school year.
In this regard, the transport department of the wilaya of Béjaïa has so far authorized 864 among the 1,333 buses which should be devoted to school transport this year.
These are buses belonging to the municipalities as well as to private carriers who have signed agreements to ensure collection throughout the school year.
“These 864 school buses, including 499 belonging to private operators, were authorized after the authorization surveys conducted with regard to the drivers as well as the inspection of the general condition of the buses during the technical control,” said Monday, Menhoudj Abdelouahab, director of transport of the wilaya of Béjaïa, on the local radio. And to add: “Other requests for school transport are currently being studied, while the lack recorded in certain municipalities such as Barbacha, Thala Hamza and Ifrane (commune of Béjaïa) will be filled by the Etub buses, especially during peak hours. »»
Speaking during a program hosted by Radio Soummam three days ago, the wali of Béjaïa, Kamel-Eddine Karbouche, assured that “all the subsidy requests for the school transport made by the municipalities will be taken care of and we will intervene whenever there is insufficiency”.
And to specify: “We have allocated a significant amount to school transport so that our children, especially those of the primary cycle, can join their schools in good conditions, because some APCs do not have sufficient means to cope with this component. »»
The same official said that firm instructions have been given to guarantee school transport, but also the preparation and maintenance of heating as well as the opening of school canteens, so that students can eat from the first day of the start of the school year.
The Post Béjaïa strengthens its school transport: more than 860 buses already mobilized APPARED FIRST ON The independent young.
