The famous Algerian researcher and inventor based in the United States Belgacem Haba was, this Wednesday, the guest of the Houari-Boumediene University of Science and Technology (USTHB), on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of its creation. The opportunity for students to get closer to this illustrious researcher, himself from the USTHB, and to benefit from his experience.
In a packed amphitheater at the USTHB, the Algerian with 1,500 patents residing in the United States looked at the 4th industrial revolution. In this context, he affirmed that faced with the accelerated pace of the technological sphere throughout the world, Algeria must follow with lightning speed in order to occupy a place among other countries in tune with technology.
Prof. Haba presented the economic characteristics that the world is expected to face in the future. He explained the efficient, fair and proper way to create emerging businesses and their contribution to the advancement of the national economy.
He asserted that “we are living in an era close to a fourth industrial revolution.” This, taking into account inventions that excel in speed and performance. He added that the role of start-ups, that is to say young innovative companies, is essential during this industrial revolution. This is why he underlines their importance to the development of the economy.
In this sense, he clarified that it is necessary to create an ecosystem of success for them, while abandoning the environment that favors failure.
Furthermore, Professor Haba, during his presentation, retraced his youth in Algeria, his journey as a student at USTHB and his beginnings as a scientist. So, to motivate the students in the lecture hall, he highlighted the power of self-confidence. This is what our youth are missing, he lamented.
He indicated that this conference will be followed by others, while expressing his concern to maintain contact with the student community, with whom he aims to implement positive thinking among the country’s future decision-makers.
It should be noted that the conference was attended by a large number of students, professors and people interested in the technological and economic world. The room was packed and the welcome was warm.
With more than 1,500 invention and application patents worldwide, including 500 in the United States, Dr. Belgacem Haba is recognized as one of the world’s greatest inventors thanks to his major contributions to the global community of innovative technologies.
