In New York, Ambassador Amar Bendjama, permanent representative of Algeria with the UN, was decorated this Saturday of the Order of National Merit to the rank “Achir”. A distinction assigned by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in recognition of his commitment and his loyalty to the service of Algerian diplomacy, said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“On the instruction of the President of the Republic, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, presided today in New York the decoration ceremony for Ambassador Amar Bendjama,” said the same source.
This distinction, underlines the press release, comes to salute “the jurisdiction, loyalty and dedication” of the ambassador in the representation of Algeria to the United Nations, but also his constant commitment in favor of the just international causes, in the forefront of which the Palestinian question and the Sahrawi cause.
At the end of the ceremony, Amar Bendjama expressed “his deep gratitude and his lively thanks to President Tebboune, reiterating his commitment to continue his action” with loyalty and dedication, under the High Authority of the President of the Republic, in the service of Algeria, of the defense of his interests and the influence of his voice on the international scene “.
The day before, during his periodic interview with the national press, broadcast on Friday evening, Abdelmadjid Tebboune had announced that he had signed the official decree attributing this distinction to Amar Bendjama, thus confirming his desire to highlight the work and efforts of the diplomat.
