Boughali appelle l’UIP à poursuivre l’entité sioniste – Le Jeune Indépendant

All mechanisms and avenues should be explored by Arab countries in order to bring the Zionist entity to justice for its crimes perpetrated against the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip. This was declared this Saturday by Brahim Boughali, president of the National People’s Assembly (APN), and current president of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIPA),

In his opening speech to the work of the 34th session of the UIPA Executive Committee at the International Conference Center (CIC) in Algiers, Boughali focused on the extremely serious developments occurring at the regional and international level, having profound repercussions on the Arab region. He thus highlighted “the situation in Palestine where the Palestinian people are suffering ethnic cleansing and abject crimes perpetrated by the Zionist occupier”, recalling that it was “an extension of the colonial project aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause and destabilize the region into violence and chaos.”

In this geopolitical context in full turmoil, “our responsibility, as representatives of the Arab peoples in this common Arab parliamentary space, is great and heavy,” underlined Boughali. He also affirmed that “our duty consists of working, with dedication, to consolidate the place of the UIPA as well as its role in meeting the demands of the situation but also the ambitions of the Arab peoples”.

Announcing that the situation in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories will be on the agenda of the 36th UIPA Conference, whose work begins today in Algiers, Boughali called for the need to propose initiatives constructive and effective, with the aim of strengthening joint Arab parliamentary action. The IPU is also called upon to “examine all mechanisms, ways and means allowing us to bring the Zionist occupier to justice for its crimes.”

Boughali noted that “it is high time for our Arab Nation to regain its strong and active presence on the international scene.” He reinforced these remarks by declaring: “We have all seen what has been achieved at the level of the General Assembly (GA) of the United Nations (UN), through its historic resolution on the admission of Palestine as a Member State with full rights, thanks to the unity of votes.”

It should be noted that the agenda of this meeting also includes the establishment of the commission of the Arab Parliamentary Excellence Award, the commission of the legal team from the Executive Committee of the Union and of the select committee resulting from the Executive Committee of the Union.
