Aware of the contribution of actions to be undertaken upstream, particularly on a preventive level, the Civil Protection Directorate of the wilaya of Mostaganem has launched, this year again, an awareness campaign on the dangers of the sea , the prevention of forest fires, harvests, palm groves as well as the risks linked to traffic accidents which peak in the summer period and food poisoning.
This was, among others, indicated by Lieutenant Mohammedi Mansour, in charge of the communications unit at the Directorate of Civil Protection in the wilaya of Mostaganem.
Indeed, the launch of this Civil Protection awareness campaign on the prevention of drownings and the dangers linked to the summer season continues under the slogan “Together for a summer without losses”.
Indeed, several participants and speakers are taking part and this campaign will last until the end of the current month of June. This week, the awareness convoy launched on the prevention of dangers linked to the summer season, in particular drownings in dams and hill reservoirs, wadis and other water points, with the participation of several actors, including the Conservation services forests, agriculture, trade, water resources and the Algerian Muslim Scouts.
The awareness convoy went to the municipalities of Sidi Lakhdar and Stidia to reach the different regions of the wilaya towards the end of June. The convoy program includes, it is noted, three axes, including the dangers of drowning in dams and bodies of water, forest fires and agricultural crops, as well as food poisoning.
Swimming in summer, which abounds in dams and bodies of water frequented by young people, given the sharp rise in temperatures and the lack of leisure infrastructure, is the cause of cases of drowning, including most resulted in deaths.
The convoy of awareness efforts for Civil Protection, on drownings in dams and aquatic complexes, seeks to provide guidance and advice to avoid such dangers, and calls on them to exercise caution and vigilance in summer .
In this sense, a very rich and diversified program has been developed in coordination with the various organizations and associative movements, in relation to the management of the summer season, such as the departments of tourism, forests, commerce, agriculture , from the National Agency for Dams, Youth, Health and Associations, in particular village committees, added our information source.
