Five terrorists were arrested and a large quantity of weapons and ammunition recovered by combined detachments of the National People’s Army (ANP), in two separate operations in Bordj Badji Mokhtar and Tamanrasset (6th Military Region) during the period from June 20 to 23, the Ministry of National Defense (MDN) said yesterday Tuesday in a press release.
“As part of the fight against terrorism and thanks to the efficient exploitation of intelligence, combined detachments of the National People’s Army arrested five terrorists during the period from June 20 to 23, 2024, in two separate operations at the level of the Bordj Badji Mokhtar operational sector and the Tamanrasset military sector in the 6th Military Region,” said the same source. “The first operation carried out at the level of the Tamanrasset military sector led to the arrest of four terrorists. They are In-Adjenna Ahmed known as Ahmed El-Targui, Foughas Abdelkarim known as Beka, Aberzoulegh Moussa known as Machaki, Hadj Ousmane Boujemaa known as Djema.” “The terrorists belonging to the terrorist groups operating in the Sahel region had in their possession two FMPK-type submachine guns, four Kalashnikov-type submachine guns, two chains of ammunition loaded with 139 bullets of caliber 7.62×54 mm and six ammunition magazines loaded with 148 bullets of caliber 7.62×39 mm,” the statement noted. The second operation carried out at the level of the Bordj Badji Mokhtar operational sector “led to the arrest of the wanted terrorist, Barbouchi Mataa Moulan.”
