“132 years, so that no one forgets”, a dramaturgy bringing together excerpts from three texts by Ould Abderrahmane Kaki, was presented to the press on Monday at the Mahieddine Bachtarzi National Theater (TNA), during a meeting hosted by the director of the National Museum “El Moudjahid”, Lyès Naït Kaci, and the director of this new show, Mohamed Takiret. Taken from the plays, “132 years” (1962), “Chaâb Ed’Dhelma” (the people of the night – 1963) and “Ifrikya qabl 1” (1963), by the great playwright, Abdelkader Ould Abderrahmane, known as “Abderrahmane Kaki” (1934-1995), the show “132 years, so that no one forgets” is produced by the Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders as part of the celebrations of the 62nd Independence Day and Youth Day anniversary.
“The Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders remains open to all proposals for the artistic rewriting of the glorious History of Algeria, as long as the proposed text is up to the subject treated and that the genesis and chronology of the facts are respected,” explained the director of the National Museum “El Moudjahid”, Lyès Naït Kaci, present in his capacity as representative of the Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders.
“This new show will be presented at the TNA on July 24 and 25, and at the Salle El Atlas in Bab El Oued on the 26th of the same month,” explains the director, recalling, he continues, the dress rehearsal of “132 years”, presented for the first time in 1963 at the same venue, then called “Le Majestic”.
Addressing the technical and artistic aspect of the show, Mohamed Takiret indicated that this “new text-synthesis” of three major works by Kaki, is “the fruit of a writing workshop that he himself led”, to produce an 80-minute plot that highlights “the people as the only hero”, and which will be conducted, on an open stage space, by a “hundred actors, musicians, dancers and ballerinas, from three generations of artists”.
Registered in the register of the Theater called “Ihtifali”, of which Ould Abderrahmane Kaki is the pioneer, this new show which, in reality, crosses several other genres, is built around the immortal work, “132 years”, which remains the common thread of the plot, which will draw its good sweat from the dramatic interpretation, the choreography, the song, the music, the dance and several video documents, projected on a giant screen occupying the back of the stage, explains Mohamed Takiret, surrounded by a team of professionals of the 4th art, like Abdelkader Djeriou on artistic advice, Riadh Beroual on choreography, Abdelkader Soufi and Mohamed El Amine Cheikh on musical compositions, and on the soundtrack and sound effects.
However, in a unique development, the actors and dancers will be supported in real time by the great nayati Mohamed El Amine Cheikh and his orchestra, led by Said and Fayçal Gaoua on percussion and drums, Hakim Walid on the Oud, Ali Saidi on the violin, Yani Ait Menguellet on the electro-acoustic guitar, Mansour Touahria on the synthesizer and the singers with sweet voices, Riham Bouchouicha, Nour El Houda Chikhaoui and Lamia Baâtouche.
“A musical passage” of this new show and “choreographic tableaux” will highlight “the resilience of the Palestinian people and its fighters, in Gaza in particular, who have been facing, for almost ten months now, the uninterrupted barbaric aggressions of the Zionist terrorist army,” concluded Mohamed Takiret.
At the end of the meeting, Mohamed Takidet and his technical and artistic teams gave a foretaste of the show by presenting two of his paintings to the journalists present.
