During the preliminary meetings of the 9th session of the Grand Joint Commission for Algerian-Egyptian Cooperation, draft agreements were agreed concerning the sectors of agriculture, housing, energy, financial dialogue, local development, exhibitions, consumer protection, culture, the opera house, Al-Azhar University, work, social solidarity, sports and youth. It was also agreed to develop relations in the fields of health, medicine, telecommunications, education, tourism and other areas.
In this sense, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energy, Mourad Adjal met, yesterday Wednesday, his Egyptian counterpart, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Mostafa Esmat, at the ministry’s headquarters in Cairo, to examine ways and means of developing the partnership in the field of electricity and renewable energy. During this meeting, which takes place on the sidelines of its participation in the work of the Large Algerian-Egyptian Joint Commission which is being held in Cairo (Egypt), the two parties reviewed the cooperative relations between the two countries in the sectors of electricity and new and renewable energies, as well as the means of promoting them towards diversified and more effective partnerships, particularly in the areas of green hydrogen and energy efficiency. In this context, a global cooperation agreement in the field of energy transition and renewable energies is being developed, for the exchange of expertise, the development of joint programs, in addition to examining opportunities for the creation of mutually beneficial projects in these promising sectors.
The two parties discussed, among other things, the prospects for developing cooperation in electricity connection between Algeria and Egypt via Tunisia and Libya, to further secure energy supply in the Arab region and Africa and rationalize investments in the construction of electricity networks.
The two ministers also discussed strengthening cooperation in training and human resources development in the above-mentioned areas, taking into account the considerable expertise and capacities of the two countries in terms of training infrastructures.
