After very long weeks of preparation, the summer season was opened this Saturday by the wali of Béjaïa, Kamel-Eddine Karbouche, from the beach of the Les Hammadites tourist complex in the commune of Tichy. Several officials from the wilaya, including the president of the APW, the directors of tourism and crafts, youth and sports, culture and the environment as well as the security services, took part in this ceremony alongside numerous local and national elected officials as well as P/APCs from the eight coastal communes of the wilaya.

The wali noted, on the occasion, the importance of this economic and tourist event for the wilaya. He praised “the efforts” made by the APCs, the management concerned, private and public companies as well as the associative movement over many weeks to clean the beaches and prepare for the summer season in general. He then affirmed that “all the conditions allowing vacationers to have a pleasant stay are met”. He recalled the activities that will be organized in the coastal communities, including cultural, sporting and leisure activities, such as contests, competitions, exhibitions and sales of craft products.

The official ceremony was also marked by a series of activities including an artistic gala and exhibitions organized by several departments including that of Civil Protection and crafts. As a reminder, campaigns to clean beaches and road shoulders were carried out for several weeks by the APCs as well as by several other directorates including the public works directorate, the youth and sports directorate as well as by sports companies. and public and EPIC Bougie Provert, mobilizing adequate material and human resources for this purpose.

For its part, the youth and sports department mobilized more than 600 young people last month to clean the beaches in the east of the wilaya, among others. Scouts and the local associative movement were also there. The APCs continued cleaning the beaches until yesterday. This was the case for the APCs of Melbou and Béjaïa, which cleaned the beaches of 8-May 45 and Boulimat. Several meetings, which brought together the officials concerned, had been held by the wali. These focused on the evaluation of the preparations for this meeting.

The heads of daïras were mobilized on the ground to check and monitor the preparation work, including the development of access, the supply of drinking water, the development of parking areas, the installation of shower cabins and toilets. , public lighting, garbage bins, redevelopment and repair of cabins and first aid stations for bathing lifeguards and security services. This year, 35 beaches, out of the 46 in the wilaya on a maritime coastline of more than 146 km, are authorized for swimming.

Civil Protection has deployed since 1er June 626 swimming supervisors on the east and west coasts of Béjaïa. This system will be maintained for four months. The majority of swimming supervisors hired during this summer are seasonal. They are spread over 35 beaches, 15 of which are concessioned by the APC. In addition to these resources, civil protection has decided to support this human system with 6 ambulances, 5 inflatable boats and a doctor. The system put in place will be consolidated in July and August using human resources in particular.
