Major commitments for household waste management

A coordination meeting was held at the Ministry of the Interior

In a press release published the day before yesterday, Monday, the Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport announced the holding of a meeting at the headquarters of the ministerial department around issues relating to environmental cleanliness and the management of household waste, in which executives from the Environmental Research Center (CRE) of the wilaya of Annaba and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research participated.
According to the same source, the coordination meeting chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Mahmoud Djamâa, was devoted to the presentation of the household and similar waste management system, in anticipation of its entry into the experimental phase in four wilayas before its generalization, indicates a press release from the ministry.
This meeting, explains the supervision, is part of the implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, relating to “the generalization of digitalization and the continuous improvement of public services”, as well as in accordance with the directives of the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, given on October 8, during his meeting with the walis of the Republic by videoconference, aimed at “integrating innovative solutions in efforts to improve public service in the field of environmental cleanliness and household waste management.
This ambitious project, developed in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research through the Environmental Research Center (CRE) of the wilaya of Annaba, where it was the subject of an experimental phase, constitutes “a unified digital system for monitoring waste management at all stages, from collection through treatment to recovery,” we read in the same press release.
During the meeting, executives of the Annaba CRE presented a detailed presentation and necessary explanations were also provided for the launch of its experimental phase in the wilayas of Blida, Boumerdès, Tipaza and Algiers, in order to evaluate its operational effectiveness before its generalization to other wilayas, according to the press release. On this occasion, the SG of the ministry, Mahmoud Djamaâ underlined “the importance of these modern tools”, recalling the minister’s instructions regarding the importance of improving the performance of local authorities for optimal management of the public cleanliness aspect”, in addition to the need to “remedy recorded dysfunctions” and “make optimal use of available resources, while carrying out a precise diagnosis of the weak points which require support and support”. The representative of the Ministry of the Interior also indicated that these developed systems constitute “a tool to support decision-making, making it possible to improve its development in the short and medium term”, concludes the press release from the authority.
