Aiming to offer vacationers in the capital optimal conditions of comfort and relaxation during the summer, the wali of Algiers Mohamed Abdelnour Rabhi gave strict directives to his staff for the success of the summer season. This was indicated by the wilaya of Algiers in a press release.
As part of the continued monitoring of ongoing preparations to welcome the summer season, the wali of Algiers chaired on Sunday evening a meeting of the executive council devoted to examining the arrangements and measures for the preparation of this season .
After listening to the speakers and exposing the various planned measures and procedures, the wali gave a series of directives based on two main axes, namely the safety and health of vacationers against the risks linked to the summer season and the preserving the cleanliness of the environment and improving the living environment of citizens.
As part of the security and holidaymakers plan, the first manager of the wilaya of Algiers gave directives for the completion of the development work on the beaches authorized for swimming and the finalization of the reception of accommodation structures and tourist and leisure facilities.
He also called on relevant officials to ensure the readiness of public swimming pools in order to put them into operation before the official start date of the summer season. Mr. Rabhi firmly insisted on strict compliance with the principle of free entry to beaches and freedom of movement on them.
He thus noted the need to intensify efforts in order to combat any attempt at anarchic exploitation of these spaces, with the possibility of reserving part or parts of them as a privilege in accordance with the legislation. Ensuring effective security coverage at beaches and tourist areas and intensifying control operations on motorized watercraft and prohibiting their use in the demarcated swimming area are also part of the strict instructions given to the officials concerned.
In addition, the wali of Algiers gave directives for the establishment of a permanent monitoring, alert and intervention system to monitor the quality of sea water at the beach level, as well as the multiplication of field control inspections by mixed teams from the trade sector to prevent food poisoning. He also called for mobilizing all available means of communication and information and strengthening them with sermons and religious courses in mosques through awareness and information campaigns to sensitize citizens on the prevention of forest fires , drowning accidents, road safety, environmental protection and cleanliness, as well as the rationalization of consumption and the fight against waste.
Regarding the second axis of this roadmap for preparing for the summer seasons. Mr. Rabhi initiated the organization of vast cleaning campaigns for beaches and tourist areas by setting up a special system adapted throughout the summer season dedicated to the collection of household waste. Instructions were also given to ensure the regular and equitable supply of drinking water and to use portable tanks to supply public facilities and citizens with drinking water when necessary.
Likewise, the need to maintain the capital’s electrical energy supply with a proactive approach to maintenance and repair of possible breakdowns, requiring with this in mind that the services concerned ensure that they are available day and night, weekends and public holidays. In the same vein, the wali of Algiers also raised the need to permanently supply areas with high visitor numbers with fuel. Concerning the public transport network, transport lines to destinations frequented by a large number of vacationers will be reinforced.
This in particular by facilitating the opening of seasonal lines if necessary and reinforcing them with additional means of transport during peak periods. The Wali of Algiers also insisted that the best conditions be met for the reception of the national community residing abroad by ensuring effective coordination with all the authorities and services concerned and those responsible for ports and airports.
