The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired, this Monday, a meeting of the Council of Ministers devoted to the issues of seawater desalination, agriculture and the conditions of reception of the national community established abroad during the summer season. This was indicated in a press release from the Council of Ministers.
The President of the Republic stressed the need to accelerate the pace for the completion of the construction of desalination plants while encouraging local manufacturers of equipment, materials, mechanical parts and spare parts making up seawater desalination plants and to make further progress in this specialty in order to better master its techniques and equipment, the press release emphasizes.
Mr. Tebboune urged the Minister of Agriculture to pave the way for the new generation of agricultural engineers through small businesses and start-ups, in order to achieve a real revolution leading to self-sufficiency, according to the text which specifies that the targeted commodities are corn, barley and durum wheat.
The statement added that the President of the Republic reiterated his instructions regarding the need to provide all facilities to farmers and agricultural engineers for the acquisition of necessary equipment, particularly new and used tractors, to encourage them to redouble their efforts.
The President also ordered the implementation of the emergency program for strengthening the drinking water supply based on a proactive vision in all regions suffering from a shortage of water resources, while working, in parallel, on the interconnection of dams on a national scale, the text continues.
He thus ordered the granting of permits for the drilling of wells in regions facing a shortage of water resources.
Furthermore, Tebboune instructed the Minister of Public Works, in coordination with the Prime Minister, to create an Algerian company for major maritime works specializing in port development, to proceed with the extension of the port of Djen Djen in Jijel so that it can play a central role in the Mediterranean and to accelerate the extension of the port of Annaba by connecting it to the railway for the transport and marketing of phosphate from Bled El Hadba to Annaba.
Regarding the reception conditions of the Algerian community established abroad, the President of the Republic ordered the Government to take all necessary measures to provide more facilities to the children of our community, especially since we are in the summer season.
