As the winter period approaches and as part of the fight against communicable diseases, Professor Samia Hamadi indicated that the Ministry of Health has made nearly two million doses of influenza vaccine available to citizens across the four corners of the country.
Indeed, during her appearance as guest of the day on National Radio (Channel 3), the director of prevention and control of communicable diseases at the Ministry of Health declared that nearly two million doses of influenza vaccine are distributed across the 58 wilayas of the country via the health directorates and at the pharmacy level. All citizens can today contact the health structures closest to their place of residence to be vaccinated free of charge since the campaign against seasonal flu was officially launched yesterday by the Ministry of Health. This is what Ms. Samia Hammadi, director of prevention and control of communicable diseases at the Ministry of Health, said this morning during her appearance on the program, “L’Invité du jour” on channel 3 of Algerian Radio.
“The targeted population groups are obviously the elderly and those suffering from chronic illnesses,” specifies Professor Hammadi, but draws attention to the fact that pregnant women are also the first to be affected. Aside from local health structures, the guest of Algerian Radio also underlines that any citizen can obtain their saving dose at pharmacies by presenting their Chifa card since the vaccine is fully refundable. She draws attention to the importance of the gesture since the flu still kills and the figures reported by the WHO (World Health Organization) are of the order of 300,000 to 650,000 deaths annually worldwide. “Although cases of deaths have declined significantly thanks to seasonal flu vaccines, they nevertheless remain worrying,” notes the representative of the Ministry of Health. It should be noted that the Ministry of Health has announced the official launch of the national vaccination campaign against seasonal flu for the 2025/2026 season, which will continue until next March. The quadrivalent vaccine has been ensured to combat the virus and targets four viral strains most likely to spread during the flu period, it has been learned.
