Quality operations of the Regional Service for the fight against organized crime

During two quality operations carried out recently by the elements of the Regional Service for the Fight against Organized Crime (Sclco) of Oran, two Moroccan criminal networks specialized in the organization of clandestine trips by sea from the Middle East to the coasts of Oran via death boats, were dismantled and 39 alleged members, including Moroccan nationals, were arrested, among them smugglers and organizers. The two operations were executed and carried out thanks to information received by the Regional Service for the Fight against Organized Crime of Oran, indicating that a group of suspicious individuals was collecting money in order to plan and prepare clandestine immigration trips by sea, this was revealed, the day before yesterday Tuesday, in a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). In-depth investigations carried out by the competent investigators under the DGSN, which lasted more than 3 months, under the supervision of the public prosecutor at the Flouassen court in Oran, resulted in the arrest of all the presumed persons, 39 in number, among them are individuals subject to arrest warrants, reported the same source. During the investigations, investigators from the Regional Service for the Fight against Organized Crime (Sclco) in Oran managed to paralyze the criminal activities of the two networks, said the DGSN press release.
According to the same news bulletin, the criminal activities of the two dismantled networks consisted of defrauding young people by promising them illegal immigration to Europe in exchange for sums of money.
Also, the in-depth investigation by elements of the Regional Service for the Fight against Organized Crime in Oran allowed the discovery of the instructions and the secret route used by the two criminal networks to transport illegal migrants from the Middle East via the Maghreb and arriving in Europe.
Clandestine voyages by sea were even planned by the two criminal networks, the DGSN press release underlined yesterday, from certain countries in the Middle East and neighboring countries, passing through the Algerian coasts, to then reach the European coasts via death boats, noted the National Security press release.
During the two operations, 7 boats equipped with 7 engines with a financial value exceeding four billion centimes, 13 vehicles of different brands and 700 liters of gasoline were seized by elements of the Regional Service for the Fight against Organized Crime in Oran.
In addition to the equipment and technical means seized during the two quality operations, a sum of money exceeding one billion and seven hundred million centimes in national currency, 13,000 euros, 1,470 US dollars and sums of money in foreign currencies representing the income from the criminal activities of the two networks, as well as Moroccan passports, were seized by investigators from the Sclco of Oran.
The alleged members of the two criminal networks were brought before the judicial authorities the day before yesterday in the context of the two cases related to organized crime, concludes the press release from the National Security. On the other hand, and over the past five years, more than a hundred Moroccan criminal networks specializing in illegal immigration have been dismantled by the security services of all branches. Statistics that confirm the very worrying rise in the criminal activities of Moroccan networks on Algerian territory. Also, most of the Moroccan criminal networks were dismantled in the West and Southwest of the country, areas close to the borders between Algeria and Morocco. Areas, also, targeted by Moroccan criminal networks trafficking in processed kif and cocaine, hard drugs alongside psychotropic substances. Areas that are also under the watchful eye of the security services, from where the successive dismantling of Moroccan criminal networks takes place. A total Moroccan drug war is being waged against Algeria, the most powerful country in the region, which is not weakening despite the many criminal attempts to introduce drugs, in large quantities, from Morocco.
